GiftDrive Clarifies How Donor Information Is Shared With Nonprofits
As the holiday giving season approaches, GiftDrive is clarifying how donor information is handled when individuals make donations through the platform.
GiftDrive has recently heard from several nonprofit organizations that received communications raising questions about whether organizations receive donor information when supporters donate through a wishlist or item drive platform.
With GiftDrive, nonprofits receive the donor information associated with their donations.
When an individual makes a donation through GiftDrive, GiftDrive collects the donor’s name, email address, phone number, and mailing address and makes that information available to the nonprofit receiving the donation. Organizations can access their donor information through their GiftDrive account and use it for donor thank-you messages, recordkeeping, and, where appropriate, transferring information into their own donor management or CRM systems.
This allows nonprofits to maintain the direct donor relationships that are an important part of fundraising and community engagement.
GiftDrive Does Not Sell or Use Donor Information for Advertising
GiftDrive does not use donor information for its own marketing purposes, sell or rent donor information, or share donor information with advertisers.
The information is collected as part of operating the GiftDrive platform and is provided to the nonprofit associated with the donation so the organization has access to the donor information connected to its own fundraising activity.
