For 49 years, the Colchester Holiday Basket Project has brought warmth and cheer to local families and seniors during the holiday season. What began in the 1970s with two local teachers filling boxes for students’ families in need has grown into a cherished community tradition led by the Colchester-Milton Rotary Club.
Last year, nearly 100 households received baskets filled with food, books, toys, and treats. This year, Rotary expects to distribute about 120 baskets.
The project is a true community collaboration, supported by the Burnham Memorial Library, local churches, businesses, and civic partners. Food is purchased at wholesale pricing, and donations of books, gift cards, and festive extras make each basket unique.
The Holiday Basket Project is 100% donation funded. In 2024, Rotary raised over $14,000 from community supporters, and this year’s goal is $15,000. With your help we can meet this goal!
