For more than 50 years, Hartland Winter Trails has maintained an extensive network of winter recreation trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the town of Hartland, Vermont. We are an entirely volunteer-led, nonprofit organization whose goal is to bring outdoor winter recreation opportunities to the community, free of charge.
One of the most beloved pieces of equipment we’ve offered over the years has been a children’s pulk sled, originally imported from Norway over 35 years ago. This pulk has helped countless families get outside with young children, allowing parents and caregivers to ski or snowshoe while safely and comfortably pulling a child along behind them. Designed for groomed trails and backcountry use, pulks provide a warm, secure environment for children under five and make winter recreation accessible to the very youngest members of our community.
Sadly, our original pulk has reached the end of its life. A family of mice recently turned it into a winter condominium, causing damage that can’t be repaired. We are raising funds to purchase a new sled because due to recent tariffs, the cost of this sled has increased by approximately 25%, bringing the total to $1,399—a significant expense for our organization. By making a donation, you will help remove barriers for families with young children get get outside in winter and help keep our trails welcoming and inclusive for all ages.
Thank you for helping us pull the next generation along ❄️
