Vermont CARES

Rooted in Compassionate Community Care Since 1985, Vermont CARES has stood alongside Vermonters navigating stigma, inequity, and isolation, meeting people exactly where they are with compassion, respect, and unwavering support. What began as a small circle of people determined to care for their neighbors has grown into a statewide movement for health justice and belonging. Our work bridges communities through harm reduction, case management, education, advocacy, and connection. For many, Vermont CARES is so much more than a service provider; it’s the only space where those we serve feel truly heard. Our programs are a vital access point to health care services, and they’re also a doorway to experiencing dignity and respect, and creating connection and community. Nearly four decades later, our mission remains simple and radically humane~ To show up for one another with deep respect. To co-create community where everyone belongs.
